Create & manage portals
Overview
Portals are where learners and courses are connected (through enrolments).
Portals can function as a storefront for selling training or as an entire LMS solution.
To create an LMS portal visit Account > Portals and then click on Create Portal.
The new portal must have a unique subdomain, which is the part of the URL before kuropro.com. e.g. if your organisation is called Safe Mining your subdomain may be safemining (or safe-mining) with your portal being available at safemining.kuropro.com.
The Portal Type must also be selected. See below.
Important: Stripe Connect must be set up to sell training and subscriptions. Billing details must also be saved to create subscriptions and internal portals.
Internal (LMS) Portals
Internal (or LMS) portals allow you to invite and assign training to users without paid subscriptions or worrying about 'seat' allocations.
Billing is on a per active user basis which means that a set number of users can access training within a billing period.
Example scenario:
An organisation needs all employees and visitors to complete a site induction. They estimate up to 250 (new) users each month to come through.
The organisation will set up an internal portal with a user limit of 250 (or 300 to allow for extras) and be billed each month based on the per user cost x 250.
Within that billing period there will be no limitations on the amount of training users can complete, so they would be able to add additional training such as role specific inductions or separate visitor, contractor and employee training.
The user limit only applies to users who are active (i.e. start or resume training) within the billing period.
Note: LMS portals are priced on a per active user basis which must be set up prior to creation. Please contact us to discuss an appropriate per active user cost for your training needs.
Sales Portals
Portals set up for sales do not require any upfront costs, but don't allow manual enrolments. Users are only able to enrol in courses by purchasing them.
Important: The currency selected when creating the portal can not be changed later. This is a limitation of the integration with Stripe. Purchases can be made globally for whichever currency is set, however if you need to offer different currencies you will need to create a separate portal for each currency you want to charge in.

Customer Portals (managed)
Managed customer portals are set up exactly like sales portals, but instead of selling individual courses, training is offered on recurring subscriptions.
There are then two options for managing customer payment for the subscription:
1. Set up a "free" plan
The plan's price is zero. The portal does not pay anything automatically to the provider through Kuro. Payment for the training is handled externally.
2. Set up a paid plan
The portal must set up their billing details and subscribe to the paid plan. The customer will be billed, and the provider paid, according to the plan settings.
In either scenario, Kuro will bill the provider based on the number of users included in the plan. Kuro does not bill the portal/customer.

Customer Portals (self-service)
Self-service customer portals are signed up for by your customers directly, either via a direct link you have provided for bespoke pricing, or via your public marketplace page.
