Some work tasks are very hazardous by nature and require extra precautions.


In some cases, permission to perform the work is required in the form of permits, often called permits to work (PTW).

This module is designed to provide you with knowledge about permit to work systems and how they are used in the workplace.

Learning outcomes

After completion of this module, you should be able to:
- understand what a permit to work (PTW) is
- identify what work tasks would require a PTW
- recognise what information is in a PTW
- understand the roles and responsibilities regarding PTW
- know how the PTW system is applied.
